Immigrant.
I have no information about her ancestors.
√ wife of William Spies
Facts (with source information): Narrative Report
So, if the church record says her name was Wendel, why do I say it was Webers? There are four records for her children in which she is called Elisabeth Webers/Weber/Wever. At least we know it wasn’t Wendel or Lipker! Have a look at those records. What name would you give her in the family history?
Chart:
1854 Passenger Record

half way down the lower section

1854 Marriage Record
St. Mary of Victories, St. Louis, Missouri
lower right side.
How’s your Latin? Just remember the form of a Catholic marriage record: Date, Groom’s name, Names of Groom’s parents. Then the word “et,” which means “and.” Bride’s name, Names of Bride’s parents. Names of the priest and of the witnesses are below the paragraph.
Here’s my transcription and translation of this record. 1854 marriage record
1854 Civil Marriage Record
St. Louis, Missouri
lower right side, second last entry
This record has a pretty bad error, but fortunately we have the church record too. This was copied by a clerk from the church record (or dictated to a clerk by the priest). It says that the bride’s name was Elisabeth Lipker. If you look at the church record and translate it, you will see that Elizabeth Lipker was the bride’s mother.
Primary Records of her children:
The baptism records are from St. Ferdinand, the marriage record is from Sacred Heart. Both parishes are in Florissant, Missouri.
(The mother and all three daughters are called “Anna Maria Elizabeth” in church records. Very confusing. But if you look at the census records, you see that the daughter born in 1856 is called Anna. The daughter born in 1862 is called Mary. The daughter born in 1865 is called Elizabeth.)
1907 Burial
Sacred Heart, Florissant, Missouri
upper left corner
This record says she was the widow of Gulielmi (William) Spies, who is dead. The little cross written before his name says he is dead. She received the last sacraments, died December 31st, and was buried the second of January, 1907.
