It is too bad that I cannot find his baptism record or his marriage record. The death certificate says he was born in St. Louis. There should be a baptism record. I’m working my way through the Irish Catholic churches, of which there were 9 in the city built before he was born. Of course, it is possible they attended a GERMAN church. But not likely.

The death certificate, a primary record, is proof that his father was also called Michael J. Murphy. Sadly, it does not give the maiden name of his mother. The informant was his son, George.
