What's so great about these records?
There is a passenger record that documents his arrival, and it is quite informative.

Chart

1892 Passenger Record

The steamship Gera docks at Baltimore, Maryland. Passenger number 12, Lorenz Weiss, was a carpenter who had been born in Hungary, resided in Weisskirchen. He was bound for Missouri, had a ticket and $1.00. This record says he was a protestant.

1895 Marriage

The priest’s name and address tell us that Lorenz and Anna married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Sadly, the microfilm for that parish has no marriage records earlier than 1904. There are baptism records as far back as 1873. I do not know why the marriage records are missing.

1900 Naturalization

This is from an index that the Missouri state library provides. It is useful because it identifies the court where the naturalization application was filed. People were allowed to go to any court to have applications processed, and few of those records have digital indexes, so it is good that we know from this record which court Lorenz petitioned. I should try to get a copy of the entire record.

1936 Application for Social Security

This document shows his birth date and place, and the names of his parents. The information about his employer is stamped on the page, so it looks as if the employer was encouraging people to apply.

1943 Death

St. Louis, Missouri
The informant is his son, and he does not give correct information about Lorenz’s parents. This is very common on the death certificates of immigrants. Their children often seem misinformed about their own grandparents.

1943 Burial
