Mathurin Lorion (1598)
Born in France
√ Husband of Francoise Morin
This is from a book about people from La Rochelle who emigrated to Quebec. It mentions Mathurin Lorion.
Lorion’s wife, Francoise Morin, died in France. Her daughter, Catherine, went to Quebec with her father and stepmother. When she married in 1657, both her father and mother were mentioned in the marriage record. So, it appears this book, a secondary source, is correct in saying that Lorion’s wife, the mother of Catherine, was Francoise.
Catherine Lorion (1636)
Born in France
√ Daughter of Mathurin Lorion + Francoise Morin of La Rochelle
√ Wife of Pierre DesautelsAccording to the Tanguay Collection, her marriage to Pierre Desautels was her fourth marriage. And according to “Emigration rochelaise en Nouvelle France,” her first three husbands all suffered violent deaths. The first was crushed by a tree, the second was drowned, and the third died in a house fire.
The record of her marriage in 1657 names her parents.
Marie Anne Desautels (abt 1741)
√ Daughter of Gilbert Desautels + Marie Anne Maillet
√ Wife of Francois NormandeauIn the Tanguay Collection, her parents are shown along with several children. Sadly, she is not listed there. This marriage record is clear, however, naming both her parents. This is a primary record and Tanguay is a secondary source.
