Zacharie Cloutier (abt 1595)
Born in France
√ Son of Denis Cloutier and Renee Briere
√ Husband of Xainte DupontZacharie Cloutier was born and married in the parish of Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Mortagne, now attached to the municipality of Mortagne-au-Perche, France. He went to New France in 1619 as a laborer, and in 1634 as a settler. His wife and children came with him in 1634. So, the primary records that connect him to his children are in France. the Tanguay Collection record is informative.
Louis-Marie Fortin (abt 1700)
Son of Joseph Fortin and Agnes Cloutier
√ Husband of Marguerite LeBlondThe burial record from St Michel says he was the widower of Marguerite LeBlond. The Tanguay Collection says he married Marguerite LeBlond in 1728 at St. Valier.
Need to prove he was Joseph and Agnes’ son! Tanguay’s work is a secondary source, a reliable one, but not a primary record. The fact that Fr. Tanguay gives the exact date of Louis-Marie Fortin’s marriage suggests that he found the primary record. I have not yet found it. (A marriage record would have identified the groom’s parents.)
Jean Baptiste Fortin (1730)
√ Son of Louis-Marie Fortin and Marguerite LeBlond
√ Husband of Agnes Blot (Blau)His marriage record is proof of his relationship with his parents and with his wife. His bride was the widow of Pierre Merot. The record mentions the parish of St Michel in Canada.
Hyacinthe Fortin (abt 1763)
Born in Kaskaskia?
√ Daughter of Jean Baptiste Fortin and Agnes Blot
√ Wife of Jean Baptiste LorrainHer marriage record is proof of her relationship with her parents and with her husband. Her burial record, which also mentions her husband, documents her move from Ste Genevieve to St Ferdinand in Florissant, Missouri.
