Both Frank and Gertrude came to America from Germany, probably from Hanover. They had five children in St. Louis. They both rest in St. Louis’ Calvary Cemetery, Section 16, Lot D. That is where poor people could buy only one grave at a time. Their graves are probably unmarked.

This passenger record is the earliest record I have found for the Grove family. While I think this is our family, the record is mysterious. They have a seven-month-old child, but that child never appears in later records. What happened? More research is needed …
